Statement, SPOILER ALERT
This is a text-based game made with Twine, adapted from the movie The Missing Gun, written and directed by Lu Chuan and Jiang Wen. Released in China in 2002, the movie is a suspenseful adaptation of Chinese author Fan Yiping's novel 寻枪记. The movie draws on Ma's search for a lost police gun as a clue to the tragic story of a middle-aged man living in the Chinese countryside.
The Missing Gun is one of my very favorite movies. It has very cleverly designed lines and plot. I integrated the plot of the movie and wrote the wonderful lines into this text-based game, aiming to use the characters' lines as the main component to drive the game's plot. The game has the original ending from the movie and a new ending was added to it, one where Ma eventually lost his battle with Liu.
